ARMS 2015-2016 Proposed Schedule Change - Additional Meetings

Amherst Regional Middle School Principal Marisa Mendonsa and Assistant Principal Mike Malone will hold two additional meetings regarding the proposed schedule changes which would begin during the 2015-2016 school year.  At these meetings, Principal Mendonsa will share the process, the rationale for the change and how these changes impact current and future programming at the middle school.  The first meeting will take place Friday, January 16th from 7:45-9:15AM in the PD Center at ARMS. The second meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 20th from 6:30-8:30PM in the ARMS Library.  We look forward to sharing this work with you.

Hour of Code

Dear parents/guardians,

We live in a world surrounded by technology. And we know that whatever field our students choose to go into as adults, their ability to succeed will increasingly hinge on understanding how technology works. But only a tiny fraction of us are learning computer science, and fewer students are studying it than a decade ago.

That’s why our entire school is joining in on the largest learning event in history: The Hour of Code, during Computer Science Education Week (Dec. 8-14). Last year, 15 million students tried computer science in one week. This year, we're joining students worldwide to reach 100 million students!

Our Hour of Code is a statement that Amherst Regional Middle School is ready to teach these foundational 21st century skills. To continue bringing programming activities to your students, we want to make our Hour of Code event huge. I encourage you to ask your student about their Hour of Code experience, and ask them to show you the activities they tried from the website below.

See http://hourofcode.com/us for details, and help us spread the word.

Sincerely,

ARMS Science teachers
